At 10:15 we left our anchorage in Vourla Kamena in a steady 12 knot breeze. Initially motoring through the lovely narrows at the “ corner “of Evia then tacking the full 33 nautical miles to Aghios Dimitris a small bay on the mainland across from Orei on Evia.

Louise did a magnificent job of helming all the way and it was most enjoyable sailing the boat for a change. I’m not sure how many tacks we did but it was a few! Just over 8 hours underway and only 2 on motor , to leave and anchor on arrival.

At 18:20 we were-anchored in the small bay but you wouldn’t have believed it 10 minutes before our arrival another boat arrived from around the corner. However we squeezed in.

We had planned to stay the Sunday relaxing in the bay but due to yet another unexpected wind shift we thought it better to leave and head around to Ormos Varellia on the Trikeri peninsula . It was lovely, deserted ,just us, perfect.

We had called the Scottish lady who used to work for Sunsail and now lives in Milina to see if she had any of her buoys free in the anchorage for about a week. Unfortunately she didn’t but advised that when she had passed there was space in Milini harbour a very small but nice spot. It was just over two miles away so 11;00 on Monday morning saw us stern to. Wooooo Hooo says Lily her 1st time ashore since 24th April on Samos. It was short lived however as on the following morning we were advise by a local lady that all the poor stray cats had aids !!

The Trikeri Peninsula is a very beautiful part of this area at the entrance of the Volos Gulf. We both like it.
