Hogmanay on Tutela

A week later we were back down the marina again , this time on Tutela, Sara & Brian’s boat.

They had offered for us to stay as the curfew was 10 pm, but we prefered to get back up the road to our own beds. It was a shame we missed the actual bells but the champagne was opened early and Sara’s curry dishes were fab.

Happy New Year everyone

Buster

This one’s quite sad.

I am writing these blogs retrospectively using my log book and pictures as an aide memoire to allow me to accurately back date the posts to the correct time and date.

This is Buster a wee cracker of a cat, well he’s actually quite big but he’s a softy. He was bullied by a big Ginger Tom, who thankfully seems to have moved on.

He was the cat that one of the vacation renters had left loads, and I mean loads, of cat food for. We used to feed him it regularly.

He was very vociferous and you could hear him calling for his breakfast outside if it was his chosen day for a visit. It was great to hear. He was very affectionate and Lily loved him, although she was a little minx. She would run out to kiss him each morning but she would also swipe him every now and again. He just tolerated her antics. They used to disappear for the day and come back at tea time.

He wasn’t allowed in the house, although he did manage it once or twice, and would just hunker down like a spoilt child not wanting to be moved out again lol.

Louise & I agreed that had this been our house or we knew we were going to settle semi permanently in Greece we would gladly have adopted him, but the boat unfortunately wouldn’t have been possible or even fair on him.

I had to go home to Scotland, (Louise remained in Greece) at the end of March for my 1st Covid jab and that unfortunately was the last time we have seen him. It’s now 25th May 2021

You hear stories that cats turn up months later, or they simply have found a better place to stay. I like to think & hope the latter and that someone, somewhere is taking care of Buster.

A special wee animal.

Garden Drinks

Although a good way through December it is still nice enough to sit out during the day. Once the sun starts to set it does get a bit chilly though.

One  such “Lazy Sunday Afternoon”  we had Joni, Bruce, Brian & Sara up for afternoon drinks in the garden. How  posh & decadent does that sound?  All that’s missing is the cucumber sandwiches – and I think they wouldn’t go amiss as I am sure both Joni & Sara must have connections with the aristocracy, lol

Ireon & Flamingos

Having a car instead of a bike this year has been a bonus, not only for the supermarket trips but to allow us just to get out and about a bit.

As I have said in previous blogs the C19 restrictions in Samos are less strenuously applied at the present anyway, which means although cafes & tavernas remain shut you can still go for a walk at least.

Today we went down to Psili Amos to see the Flamingos but they had Flamingone, retreating shyly to the other side of the lake.

Afterwards we drove to Ireon, a popular seaside town busy in summer but mid-winter and thanks to Covid was deserted. Into the bargain it was a fresh and breezy day.
