Limin Skopelou

27th June

Today we are heading into Skopelos town.

The houses and, it’s said, 120 churches are piled one on top of another around a rock amphitheatre above the harbour. The houses are jammed together along narrow curving alleys that restrict access to all except pedestrians, donkeys and the occasional suicidal motorcyclist. I imagine it’s little altered fom bygone days bar a few more tavernas & the like to cater for the tourists.

It would have been nice to visit in the evening I think but we never made it.

The harbour though pretty is positively dangerous in any  strong winds. I have seen some horrendous videos on you Tube and even the pilot book warns sometimes impossible to enter or leave!
