We had the option of going to Kiparissia or Pylos today, the former being closer. It turned out to be a very uncomfortble journey so we decided to head into Kiparissia. Gordon didn’t really fancy it but in fact it turned out to be a really nice wee place.
The harbour is free but no electricity. So hair drying by natural elements today.
There is one of the smallest churches we have ever seen , its about the size of a garden hut. Presumably for the fishermen & sailors.
The town was an uphill walk from the harbour and was fairly modern, lots of cafes, bars and restaurants, focused on the main square. Effie, a nice lady in the shop down by the harbour (that’s it behind the church) recommended that we go up to the Byzantine castle to watch the sunset and enjoy the walk back down. She arranged for a taxi to take us up.
Up in the old town there is one street ,typical of old Greece, with a few nice tavernas. The dish of the day seemed to be suckling pig. Unfortunately we had already eaten so opted for a nice G & T after taking a wander round the ruined castle.
We took the “traffic” directions back to town adding about 2 miles to our journey in pitch black roads. I nearly embedded my foot in a recent roadkill , yugh!
Next day we walked along the coast and through the olive groves to the beach for a well earned rest. I kid you not, this is a tiring life that we lead. We were treated to a lovely golden beach, clear blue sea and to top it all, no one else in sight.
It was a longish but lovely walk back to the harbour
On we go ………..
and on
Finally a shower at the 5 star boutique hotel
Pics are fab. Think your taking this whole Greek thing too seriously with the hairstyle Louise (you Greek Goddess you 🙂 )What are the hay tents on the beach ?
